Earlier this week, I was worried about getting a job to help me with my internship. I was so worried that I didn’t think to ask Creator for help. When I finally did ask, I ended up getting an interview and got the job. I really had to laugh at myself because I knew I let my ego get the best of me.
Ego= A person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.
I fbelieve when people talk about self-importance when they talk about ego. There’s nothing wrong with having self-esteem, it’s a very healthy trait, but when you have an over-inflated sense of importance it can set you up for failure.
There are two ways a person handles a broken ego, externally, and internally. Both aren’t very helpful. For me, I handle things internally(because I’m very self-critical), when you handle a broken ego internally, you blame yourself for everything. “I should’ve done this, I would’ve done that, I could’ve done that.” If you ever had a ‘woulda, shoulda, coulda,’ moment, then you realize that your ego can be your enemy. Here’s your ego: “Gee, I got dumped. Maybe, they thought I was boring, I should’ve been more exciting, I could’ve listened more,..” You get the idea. When we do that we are letting in negative energy in and using it to beat ourselves up over things that we can’t even control. That’s when I ask Creator for strength, so I can move forward without constantly worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet,
Another way that a broken ego is handled is external, blaming other people for your problems. “Well if you hadn’t done ABC then wouldn’t have 123!” When you do that, you’re passing your negative vibes on to other people. I’ve been guilty of this too. That’s when I ask for protection from negativity and surrounded by positive energy.
When we think with our egos we often forget that not everything is going our way. So, trust that everything will fall into place. It may not be when you want it but it will be right on time.
