What 2018 Taught Me About Patience

  • by

As the old saying goes, patience is a virtue. Even though I thought I was a very patient person, 2018 has shown me just how wrong I was.

Productivity or Keeping Busy?

I thought if I wasn’t doing some kind of work, then I wasn’t being productive. What I realized was, I was just driving myself crazy trying to distract myself…from myself.

When you have to wait for something to come full circle it can be daunting to wait. You have the urge to do something but you don’t know what. So you make yourself busy instead of being productive. What’s the difference?

Well, when you are productive, you are several steps ahead then where you were yesterday. When you are busy, you are doing something but it does not push you forward. You are right where you were when you began. I don’t being busy, but I couldn’t find any way to be productive, so I focused on prayer.

Waiting on Creator’s Time

We are told by society that our worth is based on our output. The more you work, the more valuable you are. So when you feel stuck and restless in situation you like you should do something even if you don’t know what to do. As I previously stated, I focused on prayer. Why? Because when it comes to the Universe, sometimes God wants you to keep still and not worry.

It doesn’t seem like that would help anything but it does. Creator needs you to trust It and be patient.

We tend to appreciate our blessings when we take the time to reflect. It’s okay to be honest with Creator and vent your frustrations. Ask for patience, strength and clarity to help you through and know that everything will fall in place when it’s time.

I have been impatient but there is always that feeling in the very pit of my soul that everything will work itself out. Lately, this feeling has become strong and during this time I have blessed in many ways. Continue to keep your faith strong and know, we’re just waiting on God’s time.
