Looking back at the last four years of my journey, as well as some current events. I’ve come to appreciate both the great moments and the darker moments. They have shaped me into the person I am now, and while I have a long way to go, I can understand the highs and lows bring me to a place of balance.
Most people will look back at the darker parts of their life and feel some kind of shame, fear or anxiety but don’t realize how important those times were. Those moments serve as a catalyst for growth. The good seasons and bad seasons are the Yin and Yang that create a balance within one’s self.
Good Seasons: These seasons are easily embraced because they make us feel good. A promotion, a new friend or even discovering a good and productive year can be a good season. They teach us to not take ourselves too seriously and that anything is possible. Good seasons help us appreciate life and even the little things. This helps us explore different facets of life and our inner self (because you’re not one dimensional) in hopes of finding something amazing to add to our experience in this life. We want good seasons to last forever, but if life was always sunshine and rainbows we could become detached from other parts of reality.
Bad Seasons: These seasons, while hard to understand at the moment, can make us stronger and promote growth. Think of how forests use fire, even though fire can destroy a whole ecosystem, when balanced a fire can burn away the things that aren’t needed and the nutritious ashes go back into the ground which makes the forest flourish. Pain is necessary because it teaches us what to strive for in life. Brokenhearted? Use it as a lesson in knowing what you want and how to treat someone in a relationship. Neglectful/abusive parent? It’s a lesson on what kind of parent you want to be and what kind of bond you want with your child. Unemployed or don’t like your job? It’s an opportunity to use your talent and resources to find a better job or create your own business.
How to find the balance: Take a step back to reflect and ask yourself these things. What did this moment teach you about yourself? How will you use this experience in your journey? Does this give you a new perspective on the world around you? Personally, I use these moments to ask Creator for some insight on how this prepares me for the next step in my path. However you choose to reflect just remember, it’s all about BALANCE.
